UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the 22nd National Youth Festival held at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida on Friday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also addressed the inaugural ceremony on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda Jayanti (birth anniversary) via video conferencing at the university.

The formal inauguration of the Youth Festival was done by Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath in the presence of Union Ministers Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Dr Mahesh Sharma.

Several home buyers of different projects in Noida and Greater Noida staged a protest against the Uttar Pradesh government at Gate number five of the university. According to Annu Khan, president, NEFOMA, they came to meet the CM to request him to resolve the builder-buyers issue, but police did not let them enter the university premises.

"The CM had promised in September last year that 50,000 flat buyers will get their homes in Noida and Greater Noida before December 31, 2017. But when he came to Amity University last month, he went back on his words and said only 40,000 flat buyers will get their homes before the due date; the rest will get the same by March 31, 2018."

Farmers who have been protesting against the authority on land accusation issue also tried to enter the university campus, but were not allowed to by the police.

While addressing the audience, Yogi said, "If anyone wants to know about India and its culture he has to read, know and understand Swami Vivekananda. His life is an inspiration to all the youth. India can be free of terrorism, naxalism, corruption, etc, only with the help of the youth."

Yogi also elaborated upon PM Modi's 'Stand Up India, Start Up India' scheme and said how it has benefited lakhs of youth from all over the country to realise their dreams. He also talked of Ram, Krishna, Rani Laxmi Bai, Maharana Pratap, Einstein, and other luminaries and encouraged the youth to learn life lessons from the lives of these people.
