In a twist in the case of rape charges being filed against former BJP MLA Vijay Jolly, it has been revealed that he had already filed an extortion case against the complainant and her husband in the Kherki Daula police station.

A former party member had, on February 22, filed a rape case against the BJP leader, who was the MLA of Saket area from 2003 to 2008. The south Delhi resident, who works with NGO Delhi Study Group, had told the police that earlier in February, Jolly drugged and sexually assaulted her in Gurugram.

According to her FIR, the woman was acquainted with Jolly for the last few years. "She said Jolly took her to the Aapno Ghar resort located near the Delhi-Jaipur NH-8 on the pretext of holding a meeting with her on February 10. There, she had tomato soup, which was apparently spiked, and lost consciousness. When she came to her senses a couple of hours later, she found herself in a state of undress," police said.

She then narrated the incident to her husband, and they filed a formal complaint.

Jolly has, however, revealed that he had filed a case under sections 384 (extortion) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the couple on February 17 itself. Talking to DNA, Jolly said, "The accusations against me are fabricated and false. The couple was incessantly demanding a hefty amount from me. When I refused, they threatened me of dire consequences."

Jolly further claimed that the couple had been threatening him since February 10. "I was in Turkmenistan when the couple came to my house and demanded Rs two crore from my family," he said. "They later reduced the demand to Rs 75 lakh. My family even agreed to pay them Rs 15 lakh to get rid of them but they wanted Rs 50 lakh more. That's when I decided to file a complaint," he added.

When queried, DCP (south) Ashok Bakshi said, "The matter is under investigation." ACP Dharna Yadav, who is investigating the rape case, was out of station and could not be contacted.

JUVENILE RAPES, STRANGLES 6-YEAR-OLD

A juvenile raped and strangled a six-year-old to death in Rohini district's Narela area on Thursday. According to the police, the incident came to light on Thursday afternoon, when the parents of the child complained that their daughter was missing. The family, including a one-year-old boy, lived in Narela. The parents work as daily-wage labourers at an under-construction building nearby. They had gone to work while the children were left at home unattended. "Our daughter was playing outside with other children when the accused lured her and took her to a newly constructed building," the father said. The minor boy then raped her. When the child started crying, he panicked and strangled her. He then smashed her face with a brick. He was trying to bury her body when a local boy saw him.

The witness then told the police, who were questioning the people in the area. The accused was apprehended by evening and produced at a juvenile board. He has been charged for rape, murder, and other relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
