Union Minister and former Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel on Tuesday called on Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri to discuss sealing of shops and industrial units. He requested the minister to exempt industrial units which are in the declared industrial zones under the Master Plan of Delhi and have not been allotted land for shifting outside the city from sealing.

Goel said that around 52,000 industrial units are currently affected by sealing and thousands of factories have been sealed without notice. He further said that DSIIDC has submitted an incorrect list of factories to courts. Therefore, those industrial units are facing the nightmare of sealing which was allotted plots by DSIIDC.

Goel further stated that as there are multiple civic bodies and agencies, there is a complete lack of coordination and multiplicity of decision making and this is leading to a chaotic and confusing situation. Goel stressed the need to initiate a Mega Plan by the Centre that would help in all-round development of the national capital irrespective of the roles of various civic bodies that exist at present.

Goel requested Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri that sealing should be immediately stopped for those factories which are in the declared industrial zones and who have not been allotted land for shifting the unit. Goel also exhorted the minister to speed up the process of providing Affordable Housing to the urban poor residing in jhuggi jhopri clusters of Delhi under the flagship scheme Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He also raised the issue of Regularisation of 1797 Unauthorised colonies of Delhi.
