The Excise Department officials along with officials of other departments on Tuesday measured the distance of liquor establishment from National Highway 8.

A team comprising of officials from District administration, National Highway Authority of India, Public Works Department and Excise and Taxation Department in the presence of Police started measuring the distances of various pubs, bars, restaurants and breweries which sells liquor at famous Cyber hub area of Gurugram.

"We have measured the distance today and the information of the establishment which fall within the red zone of 500 meters would be confirmed in few days," said HC Dahiya, Deputy Commisoner, Excise and Taxation Department.

The district administration had asked the pub/bar owners to submit their affidavits by Monday so that doubts could be cleared and proper measurements could be taken.

The Committee was formed by Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram Hardeep Singh to enforce the Supreme Court Directive of March 31, according to which no liquor is allowed to be served within the range of 500 meters from Highway.

After the Supreme Court Directive many hotels and restaurants had changed their entrances to get away their motorable distance from 500 meters of highway. The two entrances of Cyberhub via NH8 were also closed down.

However, according to a senior Official in Excise Department the distance was measured according to the approved route in Department of Town Planning.
