Ex-serviceman shot dead in Gurugram

A 55-year-old retired Army jawan was on Saturday shot dead by his neighbour in Haryana's Gurugram over personal enmity.

According to the police, Subhash Yadav was shot dead by Bijender Singh at his house which is under construction on Saturday morning. The city police have registered a case of murder against the accused at the Badshahpur police station.

The incident took place at around 9:00am when the victim was returning home in Badshahpur village. Singh shot five bullets at Yadav and killed him on the spot. The attacker managed to flee after the incident.

"Subhash offered daily prayers at the temple built on his plot. He was returning from the temple when he was shot at," said Arvind Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO) of Badshahpur police station, adding that the accused was a resident of the same area where the incident took place.

"Personal enmity could be a possible motive behind the incident. During the investigation, we got to know that one and half years ago, the accused was seriously injured in a road accident and he thought that Subhash was responsible. That is why he targeted him," the SHO said.

Later, the police took the body and handed it over to the family after the autopsy.

"We have registered a murder case on the basis of deceased's son Sandeep's compliant. The investigation is on. The police team is searching for the accused. We will nab him soon," said Manish Sehgal, Assistant Commissioner of Police.
