All sorts of examples were set during voting for the municipal elections on Sunday.

On the one hand, former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit stood in a queue and waited patiently for her turn to cast the vote. On the other hand, many leaders and workers got involved in scuffles with booth managers. In fact, in one instance, the Election Commission officials had to ask Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh to leave the polling booth.

Dikshit reached the polling booth in Nizamuddin (E) around 11.30 am. "I will stand here till my turn comes," she said when a security person tried to disperse the crowd. She waited for nearly five minutes before voting.

Meanwhile, things turned ugly at a polling booth in west Delhi's Janakpuri, where AAP leader Sanjay Singh went to vote. The booth officials were left unimpressed when Singh started giving an interview to the media. This led to a heated argument, and finally the official asked Singh to leave the premises.

At the same time, the Swaraj India party alleged that the supporters of AAP MLA Sahi Ram beat up their Tughlaqabad ward in-charge. The party also alleged that when their national spokesperson Anupam and other supporters complained about a malfunctioning Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), the Returning Officer (RO) ordered to arrest them.

"We were told by a few voters that when they cast their ballot, the machine did not beep. Following this, we complained to the RO, who went in to the polling booth for a minute and ordered to arrest the party members for spreading rumours," party member Ashutosh said.
