"We got a police control room call at around 8:30 am informing about a firing incident. A team reached the spot meanwhile the locals rushed the woman to a nearby hospital where she is under treatment," said Devender Arya, deputy commissioner of police (southwest).

During investigation, it came to light that when she was coming back after dropping her kids, Kavita's husband Harkesh Kumar, a property dealer by profession, along with two others stopped Kavita near her parent's house.

As Kavita collapsed on the floor Harkesh along with the other two fled from the spot. We have raided his residence in Gurugram however he was found to be absconding," said Arya.

Police said that they are checking the CCTV footages of the area to identify the other accused. A case of attempt to murder has been registered against him, police said.

According to the family members of the victim, the couple got married about eight years ago.
