East Delhi to launch week-long sanitation drive

East Delhi Municipal Corporation today launched a week-long sanitation-cum-cleanliness drive ahead of the Independence Day celebrations in the national capital.

The drive was kicked off at Mandawali Chowk near Urja Vihar area, the civic body said.

As part of the event, a workshop on 'critically new born care' will be conducted tomorrow at Swami Dayanad Hospital at Dilshad Garden.

'Van Mahotsav' and 'Health Checkup Camp' will be organised on August 11 at Karawal Nagar polyclinic and Swami Dayanand Hospital respectively. The 'Van Mahotsav' will be inaugurated by East Delhi Mayor Meenakshi.

On August 12, a drawing competition on environment theme will be organised for children at a school in East Laxmi Nagar and DDA flats at Loni Road. And, on August 13, a dengue awareness campaign will be run at Lal Quarters, Krishna Nagar, the EDMC said.

The Independence Day celebrations will conclude with flag hoisting by the Mayor and a colourful cultural programme by the children of municipal schools and teachers at the EDMC headquarter at Patparganj on August 14, it said.

While, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) launched their week-long sanitation-cum-cleanliness drive yesterday, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) had launched a similar drive on August 8.
