EDMC to construct solar power plants on govt buildings where power consumption is more than 25 KW

With special attention to the sanitation issues in Eastern Delhi, the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) on Tuesday presented the revised budget estimates for the year 2018-19 and budget estimates for the year 2019-20.
According to the budget tabled by the standing committee chairman Satpal Singh, the revenues for the year 2018-19 stood at Rs 4,282.85 crore against the expenditures amounting to Rs 4,409.09 crore. However, Singh also presented the budget estimates for 2019-20, where the revenues are expected to be Rs 4,699.85 against the total expenditure of Rs 4,635.01 crore.
The corporation has decided to do away with any kind of new taxes which were proposed in the initial budget by the corporation. Addressing the corporation meet at Udhyog Sadan near I.P Extension, Singh announced that the proposal of introducing new taxes like education cess and betterment and professional tax have been scrapped and for this year the residents will not have to pay any new taxes.
Briefing about what EDMC had achieved in the previous year, the Chairman of standing committee said, "About one lakh streetlights and 2,800 semi-high mast lights are being converted into LED ESCO model. The project is about to complete."
However, the East Delhi Municipal Corporation will now construct solar power plants on government buildings where power consumption is more than 25 KW. The project's first phase has already begun where a solar power plant of 25.6 KW capacity has been installed in the North Shahadra Office.
The corporation has also planned to create a fast complaint-redressal system. Also, the EDMC has developed a Citizen App 311 for the redressal of public grievances. The project would strengthen EDMC's complaint-redressal system.
The EDMC has signed an MoU with the Noida Toll Bridge Company Ltd (NTBCL) for the DND flyway, to share revenue, through which, the Corporation hopes to earn around Rs 1.50 crore. In addition, Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), Delhi Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (DTIDC), Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) are being consulted to make an agreement with the purpose of sharing revenue. Advertising Rights are being allotted for 36 Unipoles on NH-24 & 9 and 164 Unipoles on other roads. From this, Corporation expects to get an additional revenue of about Rs 10 crore annually.
Under this year's budget, the EDMC has proposed to construct new schools in Karawal Nagar, Johripur, Mansarovar Park, East of Loni road, Krishna Nagar, Radhepuri, West Azad Nagar, Geeta Colony, New Kondli and Trilokpuri. Around 240 CCTV cameras have been installed in 15 schools. The Corporation will also be organising Educational Vocational Guidance Counselling (EVGC) to protect children from drug addiction. For the purpose of providing modern education, computer labs have been developed in 200 schools.
East Delhi's Ghazipur Solid Land Fill will soon be put to good use after the EDMC signs an agreement with the NTPC (National Thermal Power Plant Corporation). The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will help the EDMC get rid of solid and liquid waste, which has been piling up. The NTPC will use this waste to generate energy, water and fuel
The EDMC has installed an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) plant at a cost of Rs 2.75 crore at the Swami Dayanand Hospital. The hospital has also been equipped with a medical gas pipeline, vacuum system and anaesthesia gas cleaning system. The hospital will also soon get a new operation theatre. At Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Chest Hospital, the EDMC has installed a digital X-ray machine and constructed a new OPD block
