The New Delhi Police have busted a syndicate with the arrest of two persons involved in cheating multiple government employees on the pretext of LTC tours. More than 350 victims had been identified.

According to police, the accused have been identified as Ashwani Singh and Harpat Singh, who had been changing their locations in order to evade police arrest since 2013.

"In June 2013, we had received a complaint from Surender Kumar who alleged that a girl, named Monika Tyagi, contacted him regarding the tour program for Jammu and Kashmir for government servants. She introduced herself as a marketing executive from INI Tour & Travel Pvt Ltd. On her assurance, Kumar paid her for a family trip to J&K," said Madhur Verma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi).

Later, when the complainant went to Connaught Place to visit the office of INI Tours, he found neither the company nor the woman posing as the executive.

"During initial probe it came to light that apart from the said case, about 60 complaints from employees of different government organisations such as the Ministry of Health, Delhi Health Department, Postal Department, AIIMS, Court Employees and Delhi Police, had also been filed against the so-called company," said Verma.

Police said that M/s INI Company had defrauded several government employees and shut down. A police team had traced the entire executive staff, working in the company, including Monika.

"Bhavesh, Mahendra Paleja, Ashiwani Singh and Harpat Singh hired the said staff and assigned them the task of selling LTC tour packages to government employees for a tour to Srinagar." When the victims went to commence their trip, their flights were cancelled by airlines due to non-payment by INI Tour and Travel.

ELUSIVE CRIMINALS

“The accused had been absconding since 2013. On December 5, we got information about Ashwani and he was arrested from Mohan Garden in Uttam Nagar. Harpat was later found in Gurugram,” said DCP Madhur Verma
