The Delhi police bust an interstate drug racket and seized around 25 kg high-grade heroin. Two people have been arrested for allegedly procuring heroin from Assam and Manipur to sell in the national capital and neighboring states.

The recovered heroin is worth Rs100 crore in international market.

The accused identified as 62-year-old Sayeed Khan and Ghanshyam (46), have been smugglings drugs in Delhi and neighboring states for over four years now.

According to the police, members of this cartel used to bring high grade heroin from suppliers of Assam. The suppliers, in order to prepare heroin, used to collect raw material from hilly areas, adjoining the interstate border line of Manipur and Myanmar.

“Accused Sayeed Khan revealed that the recovered heroin was delivered to him by Zameer, upon the directions of Ghanshyam. He used to transport heroin packets concealed between tea packets to dodge the law enforcement agencies,” said Deputy Commissioner of police, Special Cell, Sanjeev Yadav.

Recently, the Special Cell had received a tip-off that Sayeed would be delivering a consignment of heroin near Transport Nagar in his truck. Reacting on the tip-off, the police team raided the spot and arrested Sayeed with 25 kilograms of heroin in his truck.

Later, during interrogation Sayeed, named Ghanshyam as the one financing the consignment; after which the Special Cell raided Daloda area of Madhya Pradesh and arrested Ghanshaym.
