DMRC celebrates 3rd year of Swachh Bharat Mission

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has scheduled a fortnight of activities to commemorate the third anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission launched by the centre in October, 2014. The campaign 'Swachhata Hi Sewa', which started on September 17 and will continue till October 2, aims at promoting cleanliness in and around Metro premises as well as reinforcing the message of cleanliness among public.

On the first day of its launch, on Sunday, all the DMRC/CISF/contractual staff on duty at all Metro stations, depots, construction sites and residential colonies of Delhi Metro took the Swachh Bharat pledge. The day was observed as 'Seva Diwas' where a shramdaan was observed by Dr Mangu Singh, Managing Director, DMRC, and other senior officials near Metro Enclave, Pushp Vihar, simultaneously followed by staff at all Metro stations.

From September 18 to September 23, the DMRC will undertake extensive cleaning at all its premises, removal of posters, debris, damaged items etc. from Metro properties, viaducts, station areas and counsel public to abstain from defacing Metro property. A series of nukkad nataks will also be organised at major Metro stations spanning all of Delhi-NCR.

September 24 will be observed at Samagra Swachhata Divas where DMRC officials at all stations and construction sites will liaison with concerned civic authorities like MCD, NDMC, GDA, NOIDA, MCG, MCF etc. and carry out intensive cleaning, removal of encroachments and beggars/vendors etc. in and around Metro premises. The following day, jingles and messages will be played at all Metro stations through Public Announcement and Display system besides screening short audio-visual films at select Metro stations.
