Director of building company held for duping homebuyers in Noida

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Vikas Gupta, one of the directors of the company

The director of Earth Infratech, a real estate firm, was apprehended from a hotel at Delhi's Aerocity on Monday evening for allegedly duping thousands of home buyers in Noida and Greater Noida.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Vikas Gupta, one of the directors of the company.

"We had received information that Gupta is visiting one of the hotels in Aerocity. Following the information, a team was formed and he was apprehended," said Sanjay Bhatia, Deputy commissioner of police (Airport).

During the investigation, it was found that Gupta was wanted in several cases of cheating people and a case against him was looked after by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police.

"The information was shared with EOW and he was handed over to them. It also came to the fore that several cases were registered against him were under the Crime Branch of the Noida police. So, the Crime Branch was also given the information," said Gupta.

Earth Infratech had launched a big project of 11 real estate projects in NCR and abroad. Eight of these projects was to come up in Noida, Greater Noida and Gurugram. The company has several fraud cases against them registered at Gautam Budh Nagar police station.

The victims who had been cheated formed an association named Earth Victims Association and claimed it is "biggest real estate scam".
