Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh slammed Delhi Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Anil Baijal for not sparing time to meet the elected Chief Minister (CM) and other ministers while addressing a press conference along with other senior party leaders at the Chief Minister’s House. “This shows the climax of his arrogance,” remarked Singh.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal with other senior party members is on a protest at the L-G’s house for the past four days over their feud with the IAS officers. Delhi Chief Minister, the health minister, and other leaders alleged that the strike by IAS officers is as per the directions from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and under is L-G’s protection.

Furthermore, the AAP national spokesperson questioned, “Is CM under house arrest or is he detained at Raj Niwas? If not, why I, being a member of Parliament, not allowed to meet him? Why CM’s brother and Yashwant Sinha, were not allowed to meet him?”

On Wednesday, former Union finance minister Yashwant Sinha, who left the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in April 2018, joined AAP’s protest. “The L-G and the police should clarify if the CM is arrested at the L-G’s residence. If he is not arrested, then on what basis people are not allowed to meet him?” added the AAP MP.

Atishi Marlena, a senior party leader, accused the L-G and the IAS officers of supporting the protest by four BJP leaders at Kejriwal’s office. “GAD secretary himself went to meet them and asked if they require anything,” alleged Marlena.

She added, “The officers who do not turn up for key meetings focused at addressing pollution, midday meal scheme, water logging, dengue, chikungunya and other such issues, go to meet these BJP leaders to ask if they require mattresses and bedsheets.”

Marlena further alleged that the officers did not attend six meetings called on by Environment Minister Imran Hussain since February 22. “The Centre has not taken any step to address the problem. We want to do something to tackle Delhi’s pollution level. Who will be responsible if a big pollution crisis occurs?” she added. AAP leaders have requested to meet the President, Home Minister and the LG.

“It is not the first time when the office of Governor is being misused. Several instances are there. The latest one being in Karnataka,” said another leader. Several projects in public interest like the CCTV camera project, Signature Bridge, pollution control have been affected becasue of these protests.

HUSSAIN BLAMES BJP LEADER SIRSA

Environment minister Imran Hussain on Thursday alleged that BJP legislator Manjinder Singh Sirsa and around 20 other men “seized the Delhi Secretariat and tried to assault” him. Hussain claimed the incident took place when he was leaving his office for a meeting on pollution at the LG office on Thursday. He has filed a complaint at the IP Estate police station in this regard.
