Delhi University is set to begin its admission process for around 60 undergraduate courses in its 67 colleges from Monday. The first cut-off list will be announced on June 20, university officials said on Saturday.
The varsity's Executive Council has also approved the introduction of around 20 new courses that will add another 2,000 undergraduate seats across its colleges. Presently, Delhi University has 54,000 undergraduate seats.

The online registration process for the courses, which starts from Monday, will continue till June 12. In a bid to make the online registration process user friendly, the varsity has taken several steps, including the introduction of a "three-level confirmation process."

"After filling the online form a student always remains confused as to whether their application has been accepted or not. When a candidate registers with us, he or she will receive a confirmation message on the varsity's home page, an email and simultaneously will receive a message on their registered mobile number," said the head of varsity's admission committee Maharaj Pandit.

In order to avoid any technical glitches, DU has also strengthened its hardware and software to enable more students to access its website at the same time. "The varsity wants to reach out to every as many students as possible," Pandit said.

The varsity has also provided candidates with provisions to make changes in their forms till the registration remain opens. "Sometimes a candidate makes mistake while filling their form and don't get a chance to make changes. So, this time the varsity has provided that this provision to log-in with their registration ID and make changes till June 12," he said.

The applicants are not required to upload their board results this time. "When applicants fill their class 12 board number in the application form, the board marks will automatically get uploaded," Pandit said.

Another initiative following the lines of the central government's 'Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao' campaign, the varsity has provided a special provision for girl candidates. "When a girl candidate fills the form this time for any programme or Honours course, she will be automatically registered for Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board," he said.

Under NCWEB, women students residing in the capital, who could not get a regular seat in DU, can enrol themselves as students of the board. DU organises special classes for these students on Sundays.

Around 2.5 lakh students had applied for 54,000 undergraduate seats available in various colleges at the varsity in 2016 with half of the applicants were from Delhi.
