A case under section 408/120B IPC was registered against the duo at Rajouri Garden police station
The Delhi Police arrested two employees of a cash replenishing company for misappropriation of funds to the tune of around Rs 64 lakh, on Friday. The accused have been identified as Manish Kumar, a resident of Uttam Nagar and Satpal, a resident of Rohini.
The Rajouri Garden police station had received a complaint from Prem Savariya, the branch head of SIS Cash Services Limited about the fraud. In his complaint, he stated that the company is in the business of replenishing cash in the ATMs of banks. The cash received from banks for the purpose was kept in the company's vault at Rajouri Garden. The money is then entrusted to its various employees who replenish the ATMs of various banks as per schedule. On July 27, Kumar and Satpal were entrusted with cash worth Rs 1.84 crore for replenishing in various ATMs.
According to the complainant, the duo instead of depositing the cash in the ATMs brought it back to the office. Later on, they again took the cash on the pretext of replenishing the ATMs but misappropriated the money. Further probe revealed that the amount of Rs 1.19 crore was not loaded in 10 ATMs out of Rs 1.84 Crore withdrawn from the vault by them. They also removed Rs 70,28,500 from other ATMs. Hence both Manish and Satpal misappropriated Rs 1,72,78,500. A case under section 408/120B IPC was registered at Rajouri Garden police station.
During investigation accused Satpal and Manish were arrested in the case and taken into police remand. During their interrogation, the police were able to recover a sum of Rs 64 lakhs from Kumar. Further investigation of the case is in progress and raids are being conducted for further recoveries.
