Sangeeta, one of the passers-by who was on her way to office and was shot dead in the gang war was the sole breadwinner of the family. Her husband Surender, suffering from prolonged asthma, with a very frail frame has been bed-ridden for a long time now. Sangeeta is also survived by a 15-year-old daughter and a 13-year-old son. The financial condition of the victim's family is poor to an extent that family members are not even able to go to the mortuary to retrieve Sangeeta's body.

Sangeeta and two passers-by sustained bullet injuries in the shootout on Monday morning.

"Just like everyday, my mother left for office at 9:40 am, but we were informed about her demise only at 11am," said Shruti, Sangeeta's daughter.

She was rushed to the Lok Nayak Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. Sangeeta's husband was suffering from severe asthma and is in no condition to even stand by himself. His daughter helped him move around when people came to share the family's grief.

Surender is so physically weak that his collar bones are protruding and he needs to be given support from his back in order for him to sit up straight. With clapped walls and a bed in their one-bedroom house, Surender is yet to come to terms with Sangeeta's death. Sangeeta's 13-year old son was in Agra when the incident took place and was immediately called back.

Both the children are students of the Burari Central School. Sangeeta's neighbour Naresh Gupta speculates that with her absence now, the family's chances of survival seem grim.
