The Delhi Railways Police have arrested two persons accused in various cases of mobile theft. The accused identified as Sonu Mahto and Bikki Mahto, both 26-years-old used to target commuters of premium trains such as the Rajdhani Express and Shatabdi Express, the police said.

It was on Saturday that the railways police registered four different cases of mobile thefts from the same train. To nab the accused, the team was on a routine checking when they found activities of two boys suspicious, the police said.

When checked, the team recovered four mobile phones from their possession which were stolen from the Rajdhani Express on Saturday.

During interrogation, Sonu revealed that he is a school dropout because of he could not get a proper job in the national Capital, where he had come two years ago from Jharkhand. He then began committing thefts to get easy and fast money. He disclosed that he along with Bikki have been involved in as many as six cases of theft committed on premium trains.

The duo usually targeted passengers carrying mobile phones in the upper pockets of their shirts. The stolen mobile phones were later sold at cheaper rates through their contacts.

The investigations of the duo's involvement in all cases are still in progress while both are being thoroughly interrogated, the police said.
