Delhi: Quick-wit cop nails criminal with voters' list

For Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Ajeet Singh, Sunday unfolded just like a drama. The police officer found a man lying in a pool of blood and quickly picked the named of the culprit from the victim before the latter slipped into trauma. The good Samarittan also ttok Jayant to AIIMS.

Jayant was severely bleeding when Singh found him in a grisly state at Kalka Ji Extension in Govindpuri. The victim's throat was slit with broken glass bottles and his head, too, was bleeding. ASI Singh swiftly reacted and gave Jayant first-aid before sending him to the Trauma Center at AIIMS.

The police also scanned a set of voters' list to nail the attacker, 32-year-old Kabir.

The police zeroed in on Kabir, a resident of DDA flats in Kalkaji and worked as a painter, who finally confessed to the crime. "The police scanned the voter lists on the same night of the incident and, after a thorough probe, the attacker has confessed,"said Deputy Commissioner of Police, South -East, Chinmoy Biswal.

Kabir said he used to work with Jayant and a dispute about money broke out while they were returning from Noida. The duo was drunk, he said. After Jayant had asked for money for him

He hit him after Jayant asked for money from him, JKabir told police.
