Delhi Public School bus runs over 28-yr-old, driver arrested

A 28-year-old cyclist was crushed to death by a speeding school bus, ferrying nearly a dozen students and teachers of Delhi Public School near Morna bus stand in Sector 35, Noida, on Wednesday morning. Police arrested the bus driver, Arvind, as he tried to flee.

The deceased has been identified as Lakshman Khadakwar from Delhi, who worked as a supervisor in an export company. The incident took place at around 7 am when Khadakwar was cycling to his factory. The bus knocked him over and he came under its rear wheel.

All the occupants of the school bus were safe.

“The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem and a case of rash driving and other relevant sections has been registered against the driver. We have also seized the school bus,” said a senior police official, adding, “Necessary proceedings will be undertaken against the driver.”

Family members gathered at sector 24 police station demanding strict punishment for the driver. The accident caused a traffic snarl. However, police rushed to the spot and eased the movement.
