Delhi Police's Special Cell busts interstate arms racket, arrests trafficker

The Delhi Police's Special Cell busted an interstate cartel of arm peddlers and arrested of a 42-year-old supplier on Tuesday. Fifteen sophisticated pistols and two revolvers along with 10 spare magazines have been recovered from his possession.

PS Kushwah, DCP (Special Cell) said, identified as Khazan Singh, a native of Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, the accused was arrested from Ashram Chowk on March 25.

Kushwah said that based on technical surveillance, the police got to know about the arms racket being run by Khazan.

Teams were formed and sent to Burhanpur, Sendhwa, Khargone and Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh to track the movements of the members of this racket.

The police received a tip-off that Khazan will be bringing illegal arms from Khandwa and supplying them in Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

Kushwah said, "We were informed that Khazan Singh has fixed a meeting near Nafed building at Ashram Chowk. Accordingly, a trap was laid and Singh was spotted coming from the Ashram Chowk side towards the DND flyover. He was arrested and 17 sophisticated illegal weapons along with 10 spare magazines were recovered from his possession."

During interrogation, Singh revealed that he used to receive consignments from a man in Khandwa, who he met while in jail. Singh said that that man used to manufacture illegal weapons at Signur and further supply them to Delhi and adjoining states. In 2016, when his associate was arrested, he started his own illegal trade of purchasing and selling illegal arms. During past two years, he had supplied more than 700 pistols to various criminals across the country.
