Delhi police reunite two missing kids with their family

After a long search, Delhi Police rescued and reunited two lost children with their family in northeast Delhi. The two kids, aged seven and eight years, had gone missing while returning home from school. Following a door-to-door search, the two children were spotted by police.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, northeast, Ajit Singla, said that information was received at the New Usmanpur police station, that the two male children, wearing their school uniform, had gone missing. Their family members reported that they had gone to school on Monday, but had not returned."

"Five teams were constituted and each was given photographs of the two. They started looking for them in Usmanpur, and also searched the ISBT Kashmere Gate. The father of the missing boys told police that both his sons had gone to their school, Nagar Nigam Prathmik Vidyalya, Gamri Extension, which is near their residence. The school shut at 5:30 pm, but the children were not home," Singla said.

He further added that one team was sent to Shahdara Railway Station, while the second rushed to Nizamuddin Railway Station. Others were sent to the ISBT Kashmere gate and Shastri Park red light area, while the last one searched New Usmanpur and Bhajanpura.

"It was only after an intensified door-to-door search that both children were found weeping at Mobin Chowk Noor-e-Lahi in Bhajanpura area. After recovery, both of them were handed over to their father Jitender within two hours," the DCP said.

Missing children

According to data shared by the past session of the Lok Sabha,  only 78 persons were convicted for kidnapping and abducting children in 2014, out of a total of 612 persons who were charge-sheeted. In 2015, only 67 persons were convicted out of a total 569 charge-sheeted persons.
