Delhi police crack 10 robbery cases with arrest of four

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Ashiq Hassan, Mohit, Shahil Khan, Saif Ali Khan.

The north district of Delhi police have arrested four persons and apprehended a minor for their alleged involvement in stealing vehicles for robbing people on Highway near Singhu Border, police said on Monday.

With their arrest, police claim to have solved 10 cases robbery including snatching and theft.

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Ashiq Hassan, Mohit, Shahil Khan, Saif Ali Khan.

"On Saturday night, when our team was patrolling on RCC Road, they apprehended five people including a juvenile with illegal arms," said Nupur Prasad, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North).

During interrogation, the accused confessed their involvement in several cases of robbery including snatching and theft.

The senior officer said that the accused disclosed that they had a bunch of keys to unlock the vehicles. After stealing the vehicle, they used to hunt for easy targets on the highway connecting Singhu Border, Noida and Ghaziabad, police said.

Once they identified their target, they asked the victims for random address and robbed them of their belongings including cash, jewellery and mobile phones, the DCP said.

After committing the offence, they would dump the stolen vehicle, police added.

Two country-made pistols, two live cartridges, one dagger, three cars, six mobile phones, three motorcycles and Rs 31,000 have been recovered from their possession, said the officer.

One of the accused Hassan who was recently bailed out of jail was previously involved in 15 cases of robbery. His associate Mohit worked as a driver, Khan used to engage the target while Saif Ali Khan along with Hassan used to attack the target, police said.
