Delhi Police bust illegal arms factory in Meerut

The special cell of Delhi Police have arrested five people including two suppliers and claimed to have busted an illegal factory of country-made pistols being run in the basement of a locked house in Furkan area of Meerut on Monday night. Delhi police have managed to seize 84 sophisticated, Semi-automatic pistols with 05 live cartridges and 40 spare magazines from their possession.

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Mohd. Shaidulla (37), Nasim (25), Mohd. Shabir (32), Mohd. Intiaz (29) and Mohd. Obayed (33).

"On October 8, we received information about two key members of illegal arms syndicate who would go to Haryana via NH-1 to deliver huge consignment of pistols to their contacts between 11:30 pm to 12:30 am. Following which a trap was laid near Singhu border," said Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell).

Police said that at around 12:40 am, a silver colour Verna car was noticed coming towards them in which two persons were sitting. Police team signalled them to stop but they tried to pass the police barricade.

"One of the two allegedly fired upon the police team. In retaliation, the police team immediately fired air shot to caution the car occupants. The two were over overpowered by the team and later were identified as Shaidulla and Naseem," said Yadav

While searching the car, 11 pistols were recovered from beneath the driver seat, while 52 pistols were recovered from a secret cavity that was created in boot of the car by covering the space for stepney with fiber sheet and closing the sheet with nut-bolt.

"During interrogation they disclosed that they procured the arms from Furkan in Meerut where the illegal weapons were being manufactured. A team raided the house and the others three were apprehended. 19 more illegal pistols along with raw materials i.e. springs, barrel, magazine length etc. and apparatus/instruments used in preparing these illegal firearms were recovered from there," said Yadav.

During interrogation, they also revealed that the trained persons from Munger brought raw material along with them and come to Meerut where they carry out illegal manufacturing of firearms. The special cell have managed to seize more than 600 sophisticated and semi-automatic firearms.

Delhi police have managed to seize 84 sophisticated, semi-automatic pistols with five live cartridges and 40 spare magazines from their possession.
