Family members of the two teenagers who allegedly committed suicide at an OYO room in South-West Delhi's Dwarka claimed that they were unaware of their friendship. On the other hand, police maintained that they were known to each other though no suicide note has been recovered from the room.

Family members of 19-year-old Shivam (name changed) were happy as their son had secured a rank of 28 in the IIT entrance examination. Little did they know that their joy would turn to grief.

According to Shivam's father, he left home on Thursday afternoon stating that he was going to attend a demonstration class in Computer Science for his admissions at IIT.

"He (Shivam) seemed depressed for some days, something was troubling him. He spoke less and avoided us. Now i wish I had spoken to him," said the father.

He added that he received a call from his son around 6 pm who told him that he would spend the night at his friend's as he was unwell.

"I denied permission but he insisted and stayed back. On Friday evening the police called us to identify the body," he added.

The girl was a first-year student at Lady Hardinge Medical College. She was fond of writing poetry and her family members also claimed that they were unaware that the duo knew each other. However, their friends stated that the two studied in the same school and were friends for around two years.
