Even as most of the Delhi University on-campus colleges have admitted a considerable number of students within three days of the admission process, off-campus colleges struggled to fill their seats as the admission under the first cut-off list wrapped up on Thursday.

For instance, Shivaji College, which is one of those colleges that have set the highest cut-offs for commerce courses, witnessed few admissions in the maiden cut-off list. The college has fixed a requirement of 98 per cent marks for admission to BCom (Hons). "While deciding the first cut-off, we don't know what other colleges will set. We have kept it at 98 per cent as we want genuine admissions. In the initial cut-offs, students generally take admission to reserve seats in the colleges in which they don't intend to stay," said Rajesh Kumar, teacher-in-charge of commerce at the college. Shivaji's cut-off is expected to drop sharply in the second list.

Officials at Vivekananda College also said to have registered fewer admission as compared to the sort after colleges. "Some less popular courses did not get even a single admission under the first cut-off. We are planning to make a considerable change in the second list now," an official at the college's admission committee said. The highest cut-off set by the college is 95 per cent for BCom (Hons).

Similarly, some on-campus colleges like SGTB Khalsa also witnessing the same scenario. The college last year made the headlines by announcing the highest cut-offs in science at 99 per cent. "We have got very few admissions for some courses, namely BA (Hons.) Political Science, BCom (prog.) and BSc (Hons.) Computer Science," said an official familiar with the development at the college.
