Delhi: Minor dies after their speeding bike ramps in to bus

The two were over speeding and their motorcycle lost control and hit the driver and later ramped into the bus.

A 16-year-old minor died while his friend was injured after their speeding motorcycle ramped into a stationed Delhi Transport Corporation bus in Punjabi Bagh area of West Delhi on Wednesday night. The driver of the bus also got injured in the accident.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Harsh, resident of Madipur, while his friend Bablu is undergoing treatment.

"The incident took place at around 12:30 am when Harsh and Bablu were on their way to a temple on a motorcycle from Rohtak road. An out of service DTC bus was parked roadside with it's driver along with the conductor looking for another bus for the passengers," said a senior police officer.

The two were over speeding and their motorcycle lost control and hit the driver and later ramped into the bus.

"The accident was so severe that Harsh's helmet broke after his head hit the bus. The locals rushed them to the hospital where Harsh was declared brought dead while Bablu is in coma," said a senior police officer.

Police said that the 42-year-old bus driver identified as Inderjeet, resident of Nangloi, Delhi, got multiple fractures on his both legs and he is also unconscious.

" Family members of the victims were informed and Harsh's body was was handed over to them after the post-mortem was conducted," said the officer

A case of negligence has been registered and the owner of the motorcycle will be scrutinised as to why he had given the vehicle to the juvenile or Harsh took it with him without asking anyone, the officer said.

Harsh was a school drop out and studied up to Class 8. His father is labourer and they live in Madipur area. Bablu is also a school dropout and his father is also a labourer.
