Boosting connectivity between the North and the South campuses of the Delhi University with a travel time of 40 minutes, the 21.56-km Majlis Park-Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus Metro section of the Pink Line will commence operations from Wednesday.

This is the first corridor to connect the two campuses. This section of the longest corridor of the Metro --- Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar --- running up to 59 kilometre, will not only bring relief to students but also to thousands of commuters from South Delhi localities such as RK Puram, Satya Niketan, Moti Bagh.

The Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus station will serve as a major transport hub for students as it is in close proximity to many colleges. Located next to Sri Venkateswara College, it will make commuting easy for students of other colleges such as Motilal Nehru College, Ram Lal Anand College, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, Maitreyi College, and Jesus and Mary College, as well as the main campus building. There are four interchange stations including Azadpur, Netaji Subhash Place, Rajouri Garden and Dhaula Kuan (Airport Line). Travelators (moving walkway) have been installed at foot-over bridges for an interchange at Rajouri Garden and Durgabai Deshmukh Metro stations to facilitate changing lines for passengers. The travel time will be reduced by over 40 minutes if they use the interchange at Azadpur Line to access the Pink Line. Another alternative is the Yellow Line to reach New Delhi and then board the Airport Line to Dhaula Kuan and get on the travelator.

PINK LINE

  • The route will have 12 stations of which four are underground and eight stations are elevated.

  • The Pink Line will be Delhi Metro’s second corridor to be operated using the Communication Based Train Control signalling technology.
