A Delhi resident was thrown into the Yamuna on wee hours of Sunday when a speeding car rammed into the Harley Davidson bike he was riding. The police were still trying to trace the body till the filing of the report.

According to the police, Anshuman Puri, a resident of Sarita Vihar was riding the bike when it was hit by a Toyota Etios Liva car on the DND flyway. The car that was speeding towards Noida from Delhi, dragged the victim for several metres before he hit the guard rails by the side of the road, and fell into the river. The incident reportedly took place around 1 am.

Chinmoy Biswal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Southeast said, "The Sunlight Colony police station received a call around 3 am about an accident on the DND flyway. The cops found a motorcycle and a red-coloured car upon reaching the spot. There was, however, no trace of either of the owners. The impact of the collision was such that the vehicles were found in a mangled condition."The front of the car was badly damaged with most part of bumper coming off completely. The side panels and front hood of the passenger side of the car that hit the bike, too, was crushed severely. "We roped in divers and a team of the National Disaster Response Force to trace the victim but luck has eluded us till now," he said.

Biswal further stated that they have initiated an investigation into the accident and are on the lookout for the driver of the car. "The vehicle is registered in the name of one Bhappa Singh, a resident of Qutub Vihar in Goyala Dairy. His house was found locked. Neighbours told us that he lives in Canada and his daughter and son-in-law used to drive his car." Puri's house in Sarita Vihar, too, was found to be locked and neighbours said that he used to live alone.
