Delhi Jal Board passes annual budget of Rs 5137 cr

The budget was passed in the Board's 138th meeting headed by its chairperson and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at the Delhi Secretariat.

The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) passed its annual budget of Rs 5,137 crore which consists of Rs 2,350 crore for the planned and Rs 2,787.63 crore for the non-planned budget for the financial year 2018-19 on Monday.

The budget was passed in the Board's 138th meeting headed by its chairperson and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at the Delhi Secretariat.

A number of projects including laying of water pipelines and establishing underground reservoirs (UGR) were approved in the meeting.

The Board approved laying of feeder mains and various sizes of distribution mains for Brijwasan and Rajokari UGRs

"The work of providing and laying of water lines in Tirathanker Nagar Jain Nagar Colony in Mundka constituency was also approved by the Board. This also includes laying of water distribution system in JIC Sawda Ghevra colony in Mundka, which is aimed at benefitting the whole population of the area," said a statement issued by the CM office.

To improve on the sewerage network, the Board has approved the replacement of 1000 mm water pipelines from Bawana WTP to Karala OHT at an estimated cost of Rs 30.61 crore.

"The Board also approved rehabilitation of peripheral sewers lines in Saket, Pushp Vihar, Panchsheel Park Area, Soami Nagar, Greater Kailash and adjoining areas in South Delhi at an estimated cost of Rs 64.80 crore," it stated.

It was decided that IIT-Delhi will be the monitoring agency for the work of rehabilitation of peripheral sewer lines in the capital at the cost of Rs. 4.71 crores as the consultancy fees.
