The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) inaugurated its landmark 1.5 Mega Watt peak (MWp) Solar Photo Voltaic (PV) project for solarising rooftops of gurudwaras and educational institutes associated with it.

The project is expected to generate 20.00,000 units of green energy annually by solarising rooftops of Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib and other fraternities connected with DSGMC.

Leading solar power developer Sukhbir Agro Energy Limited (SAEL) executed the project under the subsidy program of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). Over the life cycle of the plant, 45000 metric tonnes (MT) of carbon emission is expected to be reduced whilst savings of one crore rupees annually by the production of green energy.

Union Minister Harsh Vardhan graced the occasion along with other ministers and dignitaries from various government and semi-government agencies. He remarked, "It is to be noted that India being a tropical country is very uniquely positioned to make solar energy the prime factor in its energy strategy. Realising this, DSGMC in association with SAEL has taken the right step in the right direction by launching this 1.5 MWp Solar project in the national Capital, which is one of the most polluted cities in the country."

The syndicate further plans to launch more project on the footprints of this one.
