Delhi Girl kills self, five days after her lover's suicide

A class XII student allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in Bakhtawarpur village area in north-west Delhi on Sunday morning, five days after her lover ended his life after their families opposed their marriage.

According to police, the government school student allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her house when her parents were away. She left behind a suicide note, stating she didn't want to live without her lover, Akash. "She did not hold anyone responsible for her death. Prima facie, there is no foul play," said a police officer.

Objecting to their relationship, the families of both the girl and Akash had approached the village panchayat. On April 24, Akash committed suicide at his house in the village.
