Delhi: Gang of dacoits busted, three held from Shahdara

A gang of robbers has been busted by the Shahdara district police and arrested three persons, who had previously committed similar robberies in areas of North, Central & South-east Delhi.

On Sunday, the police received a PCR call reporting a robbery near the Anand Vihar flyover. The complainant Harshvardhan Shukla, a resident of Jhilmil said that he had hired an auto from Anand Vihar bus stand to his house. There were two boys along with the driver in the auto rickshaw. When they reached the flyover from Anand Vihar to Dilshad Garden carriageway, one of the passengers threatened him with a knife and the three occupants of the auto rickshaw robbed his mobile phone and Rs 800 cash, said Meghna Yadav, DCP (Shahdara).

After the commissioning of the crime, they pushed him out from the auto and sped away. He gave the registration number of the auto the cops. A case under Section 392/397/34 of the Indian Penal Code was registered at the Anand Vihar police station.

During the investigation, the registered owner of the auto Sunil was interrogated who said that he had given his auto to one Uday Kumar. Thereafter, Uday Kumar was interrogated who said that he gave the auto to one Ramashish Mahto to drive in night hours. A raid was conducted and the accused Mahto, Govind Kumar and Mukesh Kumar were arrested. They confessed their involvement in this crime and other offences of the same modus-operandi in the area of Central, South-east and North Delhi.

The knife and the auto rickshaw used in the commissioning of the crime were recovered apart from the victim's mobile phone. Apart from these, five mobile phone, two laptops, nine bags and house/briefcase breaking tools were also recovered.
