Delhi: Five persons with party drugs worth Rs 100 crore, arrested

Police officials stated that the kingpin of the gang is a Pakistani national Mazhar and Amarjeet Bains who are based in London and Jaspreet Singh Dhillon based in Nepal.

In one of the biggest drug hauls by the Special Cell of Delhi Police this year, the police seized around 13.5 lakh party drug tablets among other drugs worth around Rs 100 crore in the international market. Five people including a Britisher have been arrested. Police officials stated that the kingpin of the gang is a Pakistani national Mazhar and Amarjeet Bains who are based in London and Jaspreet Singh Dhillon based in Nepal.

"The accused have been identified as Sunil Kumar alias Raju (33), Lokesh Mehta (25), Satish Sahu (45) who hails from Mumbai and resided in Delhi, Neeraj Arora alias Sonal (43), a British citizen and resident of Delhi and Rajesh Dutta alias Raj (45), a resident of Berkshire in UK and currently living in Delhi. The police have recovered 10.375 kgs of meow meow, 13.5 lakh tablets of party drugs, 480 gm of ketamine powder, 100 ketamine hydrochloride injections, 10 lignocane hydrochloride injections, 43 drums of rice in which the drugs were concealed in rice bags to be exported overseas and two Honda Activa from them," said Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Cell.

The menace of drug-trafficking has become a serious challenge for the law enforcement agencies and sleuths of Special Cell have been constantly working on various modules of drug cartels in order to identify the accused.

Neeraj and Rajesh Dutta would prepare the drug in Neeraj's house on the instruction of Rajesh Dutta. A raid was conducted at the godown of Rajesh Dutta in Vikas Nagar and 7.945 lakh tablets of party drugs concealed in rice drums were seized.

This specific consignment was to be exported to Europe via Sri Lanka and other routes. The seized drugs were procured by Rajesh and Sonal from Ashwani Rattan currently residing in the UK. Rattan is the Director of Damaka Food Limited, a manufacture of food products in the UK.

According to the police, an information was received that a gang of drug traffickers active in Delhi will handover a huge consignment to their counterparts. It also came to fore that the consignment would be exchanged in the intervening night of January 15. Technical surveillance revealed that Sunil Kumar and his associate Lokesh Mehta have procured a large consignment of psychotropic drugs. Their counterpart Satish had arrived in Delhi from Mumbai to procure the consignment and export it.

Sunil and Lokesh were responsible for packing and storing the contraband. A trap was laid in Janakpuri area and the two were taken into custody. From their posession, 5.275 kg of party drugs namely Tramadol powder was seized. Later on their instance, huge quantity of party drugs was recovered from the godown situated in West Delhi's Hari Nagar. On January 17, 2019, another member Satish Sahu was arrested and 5.1 kg of Tramadol powder, known as 'Meow Meow' was recovered from his possession.

Further on the disclosure of Sahu, two more accused identified as Neeraj Arora and Rajesh Dutta were arrested on January 20, 2019 and 480 gm of party drugs was seized from them.

EXPORT CONSIGNMENT

  • This specific consignment was to be exported to Europe via Sri Lanka and other routes. 
     
  • The seized drugs were procured by Rajesh and Sonal from Ashwani Rattan currently residing in the UK. 
     
  • Rattan is the Director of Damaka Food Limited, a food product company.
