Once the outcome is there then only we can think about it or discuss it, Chacko said.

Even though most exit polls suggested that Congress will again fail to secure a single constituency in the 70-seat Delhi Assembly, Senior Congress leader PC Chacko on Sunday did not rule out the possibility of a Congress-Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alliance, saying that it will depend on the outcome of the polls.

The statement comes a day after elections in Delhi concluded with a 61% voter turnout. All exit polls predicted an AAP sweep in the national capital, giving at least 40 seats to the party.

Chacko, however, stated that the outcome of the elections will be very different from that of the exit polls. It may be noted that the exit polls showed that Congress will fare poorly in the polls, with many forecasting that the party will not even win a single seat.

"It (Congress-AAP alliance) depends on the election results which will come on February 11. There is no point in guessing. Once the outcome is there then only we can think about it or discuss it. It is too early now," news agency ANI quoted Chacko as saying.

"The Delhi assembly elections exit poll has predicted that the Congress will be seen to be reduced to zero. However, the exit poll results are not always correct as was visible during the election results in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. I think Congress is likely to do better than what surveys predict." he added.

In 2013, the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP formed the government in with outside support from Congress. However, the alliance just remained for less than two months and on February 14, 2014, Kejriwal resigned from the Chief Minister post citing the failure of the passage of Jan Lokpal Bill in Delhi assembly. President's rule was imposed in the capital until fresh elections were held in 2015.

This year, AAP has contested from all 70 seats for the assembly polls while BJP contested on 67 seats, with its ally Janata Dal-United and Lok Janashakti Party contesting on the remaining three seats.

On the other hand, Congress fought on 66 seats and its ally Rashtriya Janata Dal fought on the remaining 4 seats.

The results will be declared on February 11.
