According to the police, the victim Amit Gupta, along with his grandmother Lilawati Gupta was heading towards Nand Nagri, when a bus ruthlessly crashed into the car from behind and demolished it into pieces.
Two people died at the Nand Nagri area when a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) rammed into their car on Tuesday. A 30-year-old man and his 65-year-old grandmother died on the spot.
According to the police, the victim Amit Gupta, along with his grandmother Lilawati Gupta was heading towards Nand Nagri, when a bus ruthlessly crashed into the car from behind and demolished it into pieces. Another DTC bus was in front of Gupta’s car was crushed from the bonnet as well.
“The man and old women were bleeding profusely and the whole road was covered with the broken glass. Everyone on the spot tried to get them out of the car, but it was too difficult as they were stuck inside,” an eyewitness said.
The accident caused a traffic congestion. “ The car was completely damaged and the accused escaped at the very moment. It took around 3-4 hours for the police to clear the area. The road was flooding with traffic and insensitive people kept honking. The car was taken to the Nand Nagri Police Station,” said another local.
The bodies of the victims were taken to the Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital (GTB) for a post-mortem examination. Deepak was the only child of his parents and his father owns a garment shop at Subhash Nagar and Deepak used to be his helping hand. “ I feel terrible. He was a wonderful boy, but the careless bus driver took him and Lilawati aunty away. I want him to be behind the bars. I trust the Delhi Police and I am sure they will apprehend the accused,” said Hukum Chand Gupta, uncle of the victim. The police said they have managed to arrest the bus driver Bir Bahadur.
