Delhi: Criminal trying to extort money assaults residents when snubbed, arrested

A notorious criminal threatened and assaulted a resident of Malikpur because his ego was hurt after he was snubbed by the victim when he tried to extort money from him. He has been arrested.

Twenty-three-year-old Nakul, who had previously been involved in cases of murder and attempted murder, threw stones at the house of the complainant and threatened him on gunpoint after breaking the CCTV cameras installed within his house.

On May 22, the Jafar Pur Kalan police received a report regarding an armed mob threatening some residents in the Malikpur village. The accused had come to the house of the complainant and threatened and assaulted him.  

The complainant got a recorded statement and alleged that Nakul was accompanied by his brother and four other unknown assailants who threatened to eliminate the family of the victim. The complainant also alleged that the assailants even attempted to shoot from their firearms but the guns malfunctioned.

The police carried out several raids of the accused’s hideouts, the sustained efforts of which came to fruition on June 19, when the team received an information that accused would come to his village to plan the future strategy to abscond. The police intercepted him during this plan, and he was arrested and a country-made pistol and two live rounds were recovered from his possession.

The accused is a resident of Delhi and was driven into the criminal world because of a bad company during his childhood.
