Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced the appointment of former Madhya Pradesh chief secretary SC Behar as his personal advisor in the Delhi government.

The former bureaucrat is expected to help Kejriwal in bringing swaraj to Delhi and in drafting the mohalla sabha legislation for the Aam Aadmi Party.

Behar has been a vocal supporter of swaraj, one of the key agendas for the Kejriwal government. He is expected to play an important role for the Kejriwal government, which is yet to put in place all its officials. “He will be joining the government on Tuesday,” confirmed Kejriwal.

Expressing his views on swaraj, Behar had earlier said: “In any democracy, public should have participation. In issues like drafting a legislation for people, public opinion is important and should be taken into account.”

Behar, who retried from service nearly 15 years ago, is said to be close to Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh.
