An orange cluster bus went up in flames in the south Delhi area on Wednesday afternoon, the police said.

Since there were very few passengers in the bus, they were easily evacuated before the exit points could be blocked by flames, said the police. The incident took place on the Ring Door near Andrews Ganj.

Romil Baaniya, the deputy commissioner of police (south), said no one was injured in the blaze and said that the fire was caused due to overheating in the bus' engine.

A caller alerted the fire department at 4.53 pm. "The bus was plying on the route number 479 between Punjabi Bagh terminal and Badarpur Border. We sent three fire tenders to the spot. They doused the flames by 6 pm," said an officer with the Delhi Fire Services.
