Setting the tone for the MCD elections, Delhi BJP Chief Manoj Tiwari, who is also a well-known Bhojpuri actor and singer, launched the party’s campaign on Friday with a song. Tiwari, while addressing party workers and media, said he spent the last night in a studio in east Delhi recording the four-minute campaign song.
The song titled Bhajpa Dil Mei, Bhajpa Dilli Mei targets the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government for making ‘false’ promises to the people of Delhi. It also hits out at AAP by alleging corruption by its ministers in various sectors.
“We aim to touch the hearts of the people in the city. There has been a lot of negativity among the citizens. We want to start our campaign on a positive note,” said Tiwari.
The song also includes a line from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech which says, “My government is dedicated to the poor.”
The song also has catchwords and phrases promising development including clean streets, garbage collection, installation of LED and CCTV cameras, water supply to every household, nationalism, and clean governance among others.
Besides the campaign song, the party’s slogan and poster for the polls titled Naye Chehre Nai Urja, Nai Udaan, Dilli Maange Kamal Ka Nishan were unveiled at a function attended by several party leaders.
The MCD polls are scheduled for April 23.
