More than 85 students of the Rani Jhansi Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in Delhi were hospitalised on Saturday after a gas leakage was reported near the school. The gas leak reportedly took place from a container depot in Delhi's Tughlakabad area. Police and CATS ambulances rushed to the spot.
The Delhi fire service said the school had been evacuated and the students were moved to three hospitals with the help of the public and teachers. Two fire tenders, one Hazmat van, one breathing set van and rescue tender had been sent to the spot.
An update from the disaster management said the chemical had been covered with soil and that there was no further leakage. "There is no cause for worry. The situation is under control."
