Delhi: 7-year-old girl raped by three men, battles for life at AIIMS

In the past three years, five minor girls were allegedly raped in every two days, forming around 46% of the total rape cases reported in the national capital in the corresponding period.

A 7-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by three men in Delhi's Tigri area on Saturday evening. One accused has been arrested, reports NDTV.

The girl has been admitted to AIIMS trauma center, in an extremely critical condition.  Two accused are absconding.

This is another case in a continuing trend of rape of minors in Delhi. A 14-year-old girl was gangraped by six men in Dichaon village area of southwest Delhi on Friday morning. The men pulled her into a vehicle while she was on her way to school, and took turns raping her.

In the past three years, five minor girls were allegedly raped in every two days, forming around 46% of the total rape cases reported in the national capital in the corresponding period.

"In 2013, 1,636 rape cases were reported in Delhi of which, in 757 cases victims were minors. In 2014, 2,166 rape cases were reported in which 1,004 pertained to minors. "Till October 31 this year, as many as 1,856 rape cases have been reported and in 824 cases, the victims are reported to be below 18 years", the Rajya Sabha was told on Wednesday.
