The 4th edition of the 'Smile International Film Festival for Children & Youth' (SIFFCY) started on Monday at Siri Fort Auditorium.

The week-long festival will continue till December 16 with an aim to bring international cinema to the children.

The highlight of the 2018 edition of SIFFCY is that it will introduce the prestigious European Children's Film Association (ECFA) Award category, which will be continued for years to come. The international jury consists of filmmaker Lawrence David Foldes; festival director of Germany's Schlingel International Film Festival, Michael Harbauer; artistic director of Czech Republic's Zlin International Film Festival, Marketa Pasmova; and Josep Arbiol, President of the Cultural Association 'Jordi el Mussol', Spain, Festival Director-MICE, among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Foldes said, "The festival is a great platform to introduce young Indian students to the world of cinema, and how it can make a positive impact on the world around them." Meanwhile, Santanu Mishra, executive trustee of Smile Foundation & Chairman, SIFFCY, said, "I hope to bring out the best of world cinema and inspire, motivate and create a lasting impact in the minds of our children and youth through new global associations. Our idea behind SIFFCY is to design a mix of impactful film programs to build and support the growing interest in the infotainment industry."

"With further international associations this year, we look forward to educate, empower and entertain the children and aspiring youth through various cinematic experiences and related capacity building workshops. More than 10 different kinds of capacity building and professional workshops, panels and master-classes will be hosted during the week," added Jitendra Mishra, Festival Director – SIFFCY.
