Delhi: 45-year-old wanted criminal arrested, pistol recovered

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Pancham Singh, who was absconding since 2016.

A 45-year-old criminal, wanted in three attempts to murder cases in South-West District and Dwarka District, was arrested from Hari Nagar on Thursday. Police have recovered one pistol, along with eight live cartridges and one button-actuated knife from his possession.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Pancham Singh, who was absconding since 2016. A police team geared up its resources to trace out the movement and possible hideouts of the accused.

On Thursday, the police team received information regarding the possible arrival of the accused at Hari Enclave, Hari Nagar, for the commission of some crime and possessing illegal weapons. They laid a trap and traced his location. Sensing trouble, the accused Singh pointed a pistol towards the police, but the team took swift action and overpowered him after a chase and a brief scuffle.

One loaded pistol containing 8 live cartridges and one button-actuated knife was recovered from him.

The accused is a native of Pauri Garhwal, Uttrakhand. In 1988, after the retirement of his father, the family shifted from RK Puram to Raj Nagar, Palam. In 1991, the accused was arrested in an attempt to murder and a snatching case at RK Puram. Since then, he has been involved in several criminal cases. Around two years back, with the motive to kill, he fired at a bouncer named Lalit at Nanakpura Market and was making ransom calls to Lalit, threatening him with dire consequences.

Around a month ago, to create terror, the accused had opened fire over a closed shop at Sector 7, RK Puram and fled from the spot.
