A wrong dose of vaccination caused death of 22 cows at a Dairy in Burari in the last five days. Dairy accuses a government veterinary doctor for giving dosage of vaccine after the animals developed boils on their body, which caused deaths in the last five days and another 58 are still fighting for life.

On Thursday, a team of doctors from the Animal Husbandry department visited the site to take samples of the fodder, which may have caused the initial illness and also sent the animal bodies for Post-Mortem.

Baburam Tyagi, owner of the ‘Cow Pride Private Limited’ Dairy, confirmed that a government doctor is called every six months for vaccination. This time the cows started to fall ill soon after the SMD vaccination. He then contacted a private veteneririan who confirmed that late SMD in this case caused the animals to fall severely sick.

“The exact reason is still unknown, it could also be because of poisonous fodder. Until we get the post-mortem reports, nothing can be ascertained. We have sent samples of all the animals and fodder to our laboratory and will confirm the reason soon,” said a source from the Animal Husbandry Department.
