On the last day of hearing public suggestions on changing the Delhi Master Plan - 2021 on Monday, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) received around 50 more suggestions taking the total figure to over 750.

These suggestions and objections will be compiled and discussed in the authority meeting in the next two-three days and will then be submitted to the Union Urban Development Ministry for a review, said officials.

A delegation of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs led by Somnath Bharti submitted over 20 written suggestions raising that a law be brought in Parliament ending the sealing action in the city for a year.

The nine-pointer memorandum submitted by Bharti suggested that the government must have an "exhaustive exercise" for roping in RWAs, traders associations and people, in general, to decide on the changes in the Master Plan.

"A big issue such as deciding the city's layout cannot be decided in just three hearings of the DDA. The Centre must bring in a law in Parliament on a moratory basis and conduct this exercise of taking suggestions and studying the layout after which the amendments must be brought. Till such time, there should be no sealing action," said Bharti, sitting MLA, Malviya Nagar.

Also, the AAP leaders stated that as per section 5 of the DDA Act, an advisory council comprising of all government departments and two MPs is supposed to deliberate on policy issues. However, the advisory council of the DDA has not met in seven years, said Bharti.

The AAP legislators also said that they plan to write to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal in this regard and urge him to either revive or dissolve this council.

However, officials of the DDA's planning department said that they will be finalising suggestions and put them out for discussion this week.

"We have heard around hundreds of traders and RWAs as well as other experts on the matter and jotted down their suggestions. The proposed changes in Floor Area Ratio (FAR) and using conversion charges for parking will be the major changes," a senior official said.

The AAP delegation besides Bharti included party spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj, among others.
