Crime Branch to probe rape case against Delhi Police's ACP

According to the complainant, the accused ACP Ramesh Dahiya forcibly made physical relationship with her on pretexts of marriage and the also molested her minor daughter when she was not at home.

Crime Branch has been roped in to investigate the alleged rape case against Delhi Police's assistant commissioner on Thursday.

According to the complainant, the accused ACP Ramesh Dahiya forcibly made physical relationship with her on pretexts of marriage and the also molested her minor daughter when she was not at home.

Police said that no arrest or any departmental action has been taken against him yet but the case will now be investigated by the Crime Branch.

ACP Ramesh Dahiya who was recently promoted to ACP rank from inspector, was posted as SHO Sadar Bazar earlier. The victim's husband was declared as dad character by Delhi Police and after his death, she befriended with ACP Dahiya.

The woman in her complaint said that she first met Dahiya along with her husband at PS Sadar Bazzar in 2016 in investigation of a case. She alleged that Dahiya used to come at her home. Her husband died from a heart attack in March 2017 but Dahiya continued reaching her home.

She alleged that the accused one day reached at her home and asked to offer tea. He then mixed sedative in her tea and then raped her.

As she woke-up, she was shocked to see herself nude on bed with him. The victim claimed that the accused had made her obscene video. He forced her to continue physical relation with blackmailing to defame her in society.

She initially did not report the matter fearing threat to her and her children's life as he was posted as SHO in the area, victim claimed.

"A case of rape and POCSO Act has been registered against ACP Ramesh Dahiya on Wednesday. We had received a written complaint against him by the woman and the case was lodge for further investigation. The investigation is transferred to the Crime Branch," said a senior police officer.

Police sources said that the woman had filed a complaint regarding the incident with Delhi police last month. Police have taken action against him after conducting initial investigation.
