The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police arrested two persons involved in running a fake drug and medicine factory in northwest Delhi. Police recovered spurious medicines, equipment and other objects from their possession.

The accused were identified as Bijender Singh (55) and Ashok Kumar (42), who manufactured and supplied fake drugs.

On March 15, an information was received that Ashok and his associate Bijender would come to supply the drugs near Parcel Yard Gate at New Delhi Railway Station. A trap was laid and they were apprehended from an Eco Car they were travelling in. "Police recovered cartons of drugs containing 39,300 capsules of PAN-D from the car. They did not have any valid document for the drugs," said Alok Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch.

On the instance of the duo, a raid was conducted at their manufacturing unit in Kirari. The police recovered 1 lakh capsules of different brands including PAN-40, PAN-D, Pentacid DSR, and Montec LC tablets. Raw material used in manufacturing the fake drugs, like a batch machine, one lakh empty gelatin were recovered.

Bijender told police that he earlier worked with the machines used in the manufacturing of drugs in Haryana and the Delhi-NCR region for around two decades. He met Ashok, who had a manufacturing unit of dye cutting and pasting of medicines strips in Kirari. Their professions enabled both the accused to have good knowledge of drug manufacturing and marketing contacts. In 2016, both of them started manufacturing fake drugs and medicines and started supplying them to various states including Delhi- NCR, Bihar, and West Bengal.
