The Narcotics Cell of the Delhi Crime Branch has busted an interstate gang of drug traffickers who were supplying heroin to Delhiites being brought from West Bengal. The value of the seized heroin is around Rs 1.5 crores in the international market.

Alok Kumar Pal, a resident of West Bengal, would procure heroin from a dealer in Bengal and then would reach the National Capital and supply the drug here at a higher price. The police received an information that Pal would be coming to supply the drug to a person identified as Farookh in Taimoor Nagar, Delhi. A trap was laid and he was arrested in possession of 1.5 kgs of heroin.

During interrogation, Alok told the police that he would supply, and later sell, the same heroin at a much higher price.

"He disclosed that he procured the drug from Asad-ul-Haq of Nadia District of West Bengal. He suffered losses in his business and later got in touch with Asad. On his instructions he started selling heroin first locally and later spread the network to Delhi," said Alok Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch.

In another incident three kilograms of good quality hashish was seized by the police. Two persons — identified as Kamal Kishor and Kishan — both residents of Nainital, were arrested for allegedly supplying charas/hashish. The police received information that the duo would come to Rithala in order to deliver three kilos of the drug.

Police say both the accused are school dropouts and worked as drivers. They procured the drug from one Harish Rawat who resides in Haldwani. The receiver of the drug was identified as Rajender alias Raju, a driver by profession who met Kamal and Kishan during his visit to Nainital. Raju has been arrested as well.
