In a dramatic chase along the railway lines of Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan on Tuesday, Delhi Police's Crime Branch arrested a wanted criminal carrying a cash reward on his arrest for a murder he committed in Delhi last year. The 53-year-old man was nabbed following the arrest of his aide, also his son, from a landfill site in Bhalaswa, a day before.

The accused, Kanduswamy, was wanted for murder, attempt to murders, smuggling, extortion cases, threats and in Arms Act. A proclaimed offender, Kanduswamy, who is a resident of Wazirpur in Delhi, was carrying a cash reward of Rs 25,000 on his arrest.

According to senior police officers, it was on Tuesday, when a crime branch team under the supervision of DCP G Ram Gopal Naik, received some information regarding the whereabouts of the accused."A raid was conducted by a team comprising Inspector Jatan Singh at various spots, including Nala Pusta Road, near Bhalaswa Landfill and GT Karnal Road bypass, and one Narayan alias Krishna, son of Kanduswamy, was arrested from there," said Alok Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime.

Following interrogation, the accused Narayan disclosed specific information regarding the whereabouts of the main perpetrator, Kanduswamy and revealed that he was hiding in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan.

"On this, a team was rushed to the hideouts identified in Sawai Madhopur and Kanduswamy was spotted near the railway station. 

He was identified and a raid was conducted. Seeing the police team, Kanduswamy got suspicious and attempted to escape. But following a chase by the police, he was overpowered and arrested," Kumar informed.

During questioning, Kanduswamy revealed that he was absconding after committing the murder last year, and had been hiding in different parts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Punjab, in order to evade arrest. He also started dealing in cattle trading in UP, Haryana and Punjab but never stayed at any one place to keep the cops on their toes, police stated.
